A Warm Rise: How the Tandoor Project Is Transforming Lives

In a mountainous region, where opportunities were once scarce and uncertainty overshadowed many homes, a simple yet powerful idea has begun to change lives—one loaf at a time. The Tandoor Project, financed by PO “Fond baroi zindagii behtar” (“Foundation for a Better Life”), has become a source of hope and dignity for several vulnerable families in the community.

At the heart of this initiative are women—mothers, widows, and caregivers—who have long carried the weight of financial hardship. Today, these same women gather around a glowing tandoor each morning, turning dough into golden tanduri bread and soft kulcha that will later make their way to local markets and household tables.

For many of them, this is the first sustainable source of income they have ever had. What began as a small livelihood project has quickly grown into a supportive space where women can work, earn, and build skills together. Each warm piece of bread represents more than food—it symbolizes independence, stability, and the chance to provide a better life for their children.

The project has also strengthened community bonds. Neighbors stop by to purchase fresh bread, offering encouraging words as the aroma fills the air. Customers know that every purchase directly supports households striving to break the cycle of poverty.

For PO “Fond baroi zindagii behtar,” the Tandoor Project is a testament to what can happen when people are empowered with the tools and opportunities they need. It is a reminder that meaningful change often starts with small acts—like lighting a tandoor and believing in the potential of every individual.

As the fire continues to burn in the tandoor, so does the hope of the families who rely on it. And every day, the warm bread they bake is not only nourishing the community—it is helping to build brighter, more resilient futures.
